2 2 JPI Water Partnership The grand challenge is to close the gap between the demand and supply of water by 2030

3 3 JPI Water Partnership Under an average economic growth and an actual efficiency improvement of 1% a year, the world wide water demand and supply gap will be approximately 40% by 2030

4 4 JPI Water Partnership Balancing demand and supply of water Ensuring appropriate quality and security Reducing negative environmental impacts Novel approaches to the design, construction and operation of water infrastructure assets Establishment of an enabling framework SOME SPECIFIC CHALLENGES

5 5 Members Countries The Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW) The Cyprus Institute (CyI), The Energy, Environment and Water Research Centre (EEWRC) The Deutsch Federal Ministry of Education and Science (BMBF) The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs The Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (TEKES) and the Academy of Finland (AKA) The Hungarian National Office for Research and Technology The Italian Research Centre of Ispra The Romanian National Authority for Scientific Research (ANCS) The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Regions The Foundation Madri+d The Industry, Innovation, Trade and Tourism Department of the Basque Country Observer Platforms The European Water Platform. WSSTP Spanish Water Technological Platform Coordinator Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain

6 6 - The current core group is integrated by Austria, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Romania, and Spain. - The template is under elaboration based in the existing one, but introducing the suggestions from the Commission and the new partners. Nevertheless, considering the recent bad news on ERA-NET water, the objectives would be partially reformulated. -The document is focused in three main objectives: Social, Technological and Economical. -We will consider scientific topics related to Water Management, Pollutants, Treatment and Reuse and Social, Political and Economical Issues. - The next meeting will be organized in Brussels in 6-7 April. - The target is to present the final template before May 4 (if possible). 7 7 JPI Water Partnership INTEGRATION The JPI is permanently open for integrating other Countries, Institutions and Stakeholders interested in water management and research: Institutions such as: ·The European Water Partnership ·The European Platform for Sustainable Chemistry ·Consumer Organizations ·Other European and Associated Countries will be informed of the JPI progress
