Any Questions? 'The Traineeship Staff Support Programme is commissioned and funded by The Education and Training Foundation' Thank you for taking part in this activity

Self Confidence How you feel about yourself, the decisions you make, other people’s perception of you

Employment Gaining employment, full or part time, as well as developing skills that would help you to be more successful

Prospects Having something to look forward to in the future – job, own house, car, own money understanding how this programme could help you to achieve these

Treated like an Adult Gaining respect by peers, family, friends – not being spoken down to, not at school environment, being treated as an individual responsible for your own actions, being given more responsibility

Qualifications Gaining extra qualifications to help you to progress further in your chosen career path

Keeping out of trouble Understanding the need to move on from your past (if involved getting into trouble) and how this will benefit you Stop being bored at home doing nothing, maybe having arguments with parents/carers because of this.

Money Traineeships don’t get paid, could be eligible for a bursary, but to understand the long term benefits and how work experience and qualifications will help you in the future to earn money

Work Experience To understand the benefits of work experience and that employers do look for this when recruiting. How having work experience can make you more employable compared to applicants who don’t

Freedom Helps to make you more independent, reliable and trustworthy. In turn parents/carers may see the change and give you more freedom

Skills To develop skills you may not already have or would have been able to achieve at school/college. Developing skills which will help you to progress further with your career choice

Social Life Having a good job will enable you to earn money which in turn will allow you to enjoy more of a social life

Stability You may have unstable lives due to a number of factors including: school, family, housing issues. Having somewhere to go every day, with the same people can help to put some stability into your life

Choice Completing a traineeship with qualifications and experience gives you more choice to your future progression

Friends You can make new friends in the learning and working environment.

Boredom Gives you something to do

Opportunities Having qualifications, experience, confidence and motivation are qualities which can be gained through a Traineeship. These can give you more opportunities to progress into further training, apprenticeships or employment

Leisure/Free time Completing a traineeship may take up the your time and you may not be willing to do so

Ambitions and Dreams You may have an idea of what you want to do and a traineeship may not be it, may seem to be too low for them. Alternatively you may not have ideas what to do for a career and this may help to inspire you

Being popular/respect You may feel you will lose this from your friends and/or family for doing something that they aren’t. May come from an area of unemployment and the stigma attached to people who want to do something to better themselves

Family Could be pressure from your family to do something that brings in more money to the household. May be getting pressure from family to do something positive
