1 Youth Employment Convention We work with 26,000 people every year, helping them and their families deal with the effects of drug and alcohol misuse. As well as adult services, we also provide services specially tailored to the needs of young people and parents.

2 Young Persons Services Total YP Clients Active 1/5/2013: 459 Number aged 18 – 24: 155 Number aged under 18:301

3 Unemployment Liverpool Youth claimant count (18-24) 8.9% compared to a national rate of 7.5%. Long term (6 mths +) youth unemployment (18-24) is now standing at 41.2% There are currently 6 Liverpool jobseekers to every Live Unfilled Job Vacancy in the city compared to 4:1 nationally.

4 What are the barriers? Lack of basic skills Criminal records Lack of Motivation Relevant training or experience Negative pressure from Social groups Concern about impact on benefits Poor health/Mental Health
