2 What is a Traditional Route? Whilst in Year 11 - Apply to College/6 th Form to study A levels Take your GCSE’s in your core & chosen subjects If accepted into college, you study A levels for 2 years at College/6 th Form Whilst in Year 13 - Apply to University via UCAS Take your A level exams at the end of your 2 years at College/6 th Form If accepted in to University, you start your degree

4 About Me & My Choices Applied for college whilst in Year 11 as well as various Apprenticeships Applied for 4 different subjects at college as I wasn’t sure what to study Left school in 2013 Came out with 5 GCSE’s A*-C & a BTEC Applied for an Apprenticeship Got the job on a 4 year Apprenticeship Didn’t enjoy the line of work Found an opportunity at Keele as an Apprentice Got the job & I’m still here!

6 Apprenticeships – The Perks Earn whilst you learn Great place to start in the world of work Support from both colleagues and your personal college assessor Treated like an adult Practical and relevant experience and training Good for your CV

7 Apprenticeships – Facts and Figures Since 2010, there have been over 2 million apprenticeship starts in England 19% of advanced apprentices progress to Higher Education 82% said their apprenticeship had improved their ability to do the job and 79% said that their career prospects had improved More than 850,000 people have been earning and learning on an apprenticeship in 2013 to 2014 Facts and Figures taken from Gov.uk
