iPad StationiPad StationiPad StationiPad Station iPads are great for many things in the classroom, however, today we are going to focus on one element where iPads can make your life easier in the class: Student Management There are 2 iPads labeled “NEARPOD”, the iPad mini is the student version. Open the Nearpod app and start a session on the teacher version by clicking on the “My Library” banner and selecting the Idaho Leads slide show. After that, select “Go Live”, this will give you a code that you will then enter in the iPad mini as the student. From there, conduct the lesson! Grab an iPad and open either the Educations or ShowMe app. This is a virtual whiteboard that you can import images, Pdfs, Dropbox files, or go to the web and find an image. Set the background to plain, lined, graph, or coordinate grid depending on your lesson. You also have the ability to record your voice while teaching and save the lesson in the cloud for your student to view again, Try both apps and write down your pros and cons. Open the ClassDojo app and sign in with the provided information. Head to the demo class sight to get comfortable with the interface. Once you feel at home, try creating a new class and setting the parameters for a few students.

Surface StationSurface StationSurface StationSurface Station Surface Tablets provide the convenience of a tablet with the functionality of a Microsoft laptop. Oh, and by the way...it does have Microsoft Office! Get on and explore the Office suite as well as the Microsoft App store. Tap the Shopping Bag icon to open the Microsoft App Store. Tap “See All” under the Top Categories Column to the right. Tap on “Education” on the far right of the screen. Scroll through any of the education apps to determine their usefulness in your classroom. Feel free to load any of the free apps on the device and explore their interface. The goal of this activity is to get you familiar with how the Microsoft Office suite operates on a mobile device. Tap on any of the Office icons on the bottom left of the home screen. They will be identified with an O, P, X, or W. Once open, try building a PowerPoint or creating a Word document. * Feel free to explore any of the Surface’s functionality at any time.

Kindle Fire StationKindle Fire StationKindle Fire StationKindle Fire Station Kindle Fires are a great tool for reading and surfing the web. Students of any age can practice close reading strategies with the built in tools and teachers can connect to worldwide resources using their favorite apps. Open the Kinlde Fire to the home screen and select “Apps” on the top right. Select the Pintrest app. Tap on the search bar at the top of the page and type in educational topics you want to see resources for. Tap on the desired resource and see what they’ve got! When finished, tap the back arrow on the bottom of the screen. Open the Kindle Fire to the home screen and select “books” on the top left. Select a book you would like to read. Tap and hold your finger on a word in the text to explore the built-in options for close reading that the Kindle Fire allows for. Tap the page then tap the house shaped button to return to the home screen. Tap the “docs” button to explore the same features with PDFs downloaded from the internet.

Kindle Fire HDX Station The Kindle Fire HDX is the latest edition to the Kindle family. It has an amazing clear HD screen and 11+ hour battery. The exclusive “Mayday” button offers on-device tech support; which, let’s face it, solves many frustrating classroom situations With Kindle FreeTime, you can choose content you've purchased to create a personalized experience for each of your students on the Kindle Fire HDX, giving you complete control over what content each child can access. Kids can seamlessly switch between apps, books, movies, and other content in a simple, fun, and safe environment designed specifically for them. These Kindle Fire HDXs have been preloaded and configured for classroom use. Tap the “Kindle Free Time” icon and explore the loaded activities for the particular student. Teachers can designate multiple students to a device and monitor their time allotment and level of progression in certain apps from the control settings. Note: Kindle FreeTime automatically blocks access to the Silk Browser and Kindle content stores, disables location-based services, in-app purchases, or social features (Facebook, and Twitter), and requires the parental controls password to access Kindle FreeTime settings, exit Kindle FreeTime, or enable or disable wireless connectivity.

Chromebook StationChromebook StationChromebook StationChromebook Station Chromebooks have become a very hot commodity due to the fact that they offer students and teachers the ability to collaborate in real time via Google Apps and it can support the upcoming SBAC...all starting at $ Explore the real-time collaboration on a Google Doc. 2.Search the many Google Apps and see which spark interest for your classroom. Click on the icon for Google Apps Select the store Icon Select “Education” from the list at the left. You can sort the results at the top of the page or simple scroll through and select apps of interest to you. Feel free to load any apps and test their functionality.

BYOD StationBYOD StationBYOD StationBYOD Station A common misconception across the state is that students don’t have access to devices. While that may be true for some, however a vast majority have access to a device. BYOD is a great way to get multiple devices into a classroom. Poll Everywhere is a great way to utilize students mobile devices to get a quick and reliable check on where students are at in their learning. Polls can be created as open ended, multiple choice, or with an image. Texts rate do apply, so check with the students before they respond. Try It! What is your dream vacation? It will look like this!

Prezi Station Prezi has been described by some as “PowerPoint on drugs”. Do you have what it takes to switch your presentation over? A word of caution, remove ALL your knowledge of other presentation software before beginning...good luck! First things first...select the “Explore” tab at the top right of the page. From here, you can search Prezis created by others, including the top 15 of the day. Try finding Prezi’s from major brands, like Coke or Nike. Feel adventurous? Select the “New Prezi” logo at the top left of the page. I HIGHLY suggest that you select a template until you feel comfortable with the interface. Once you select a template, play around! Try editing the path on the left of the screen. Try changing the theme at the top of the page. Try adding frames and altering the path again. Here’s the thing...you won’t break anything...This is a sandbox! Play around!

Haiku deck StationHaiku deck StationHaiku deck StationHaiku deck Station Haiku Deck is a very user friendly presentation software. It works both on the web or via and iPad app. less is more, quality images will speak louder than words. Haiku Deck will find HD images for you based on your content. Select Haiku Deck for Web. From there, get creative! Click on the question mark at the top right of the screen and it will show you where everything is and how to do different tasks. Remember, this is not PowerPoint; its purposely limited. The intent is to supplement the more important content, which is your words.
