Diabetes Type 2 diabetes is a huge and growing problem in the area surrounding our school. Therefore, we have decided to work more precisely on this subject, to make our pupils and their families aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. This presentation will give you an idea of the work done with our Comenius class.

What is type 2 diabetes? Diabetes affects the way the body uses glucose. Insulin from the pancreas can’t unlock the body’s cells. The locks don’t work. Glucose gets locked and builds up in the blood. If glucose can’t get into the cells, the cells don’t get the energy they need.

What are the symptoms? Most people who have type 2 diabetes are overweight.overweight

Why is it important to prevent type 2 diabetes?

Tips to prevent type 2 diabetes  Get up and get moving  Walk to school  Exercise with friends  Limit junk food  Drink water  Eat balanced diets  Don’t be overweight!  Don’t be a couch potato!  Don’t play video games too often !  Turn off your TV!
