► 1 Energy Passport and Green Strategy for Buildings Ann-Charlotte Andersson Head of Department and International Coordinator Building Service Systems

► 2 Sweco Swedish Company (Sweco International) Leading Consultant Company in the Nordic Region Combined skills in Consulting Engineering, Environmental Management and Architecture Approximately 4200 employees in 6 countries with projects in over 60 countries International market is growing. (Ukrain for Gas- Project, EBRD financed energy efficency projects for in Zhitomir, system design for hotel in Kiev and Sketch Design of hotel in Zaporoze.) For more information go to

◄ ► 3 Agenda Purpus of presens on Conference A lot of financing from World Bank, EBRD, Swedish Government and also private actors (before the world bank crises) to Ukraine. Sweco and Sweden good experience in energy efficiency. We have been present here in different projects, enlarge network. Technology and know how in Sweden that can be applied in Ukraine. Energy Passport work in Sweden Green Strategy for Buildings Two things that makes it interesting and important to work with energy efficiency in Buildings

◄ ► 4 Climate Change Climate Changes is a well known phenomena and is spoken about in media all over the world. …and it is going faster than anyone could have predicated. The summer ice in Arctic as been reduced with 30 % in a few years. If this continue we will probably going by boat over the Nord Poole. This type of changes can put climate out of balance and creates global consequences. What we know today is that a lot of countries as well as EU and UN takes this question seriously. They have decided that a change in behavior is necessary. A part of that change is probably point to be different kinds of finical incitements.

◄ ► 5 Peak Oil Peak oil may not be as well known. It is that all production of oil in the world soon has reach is maximum. After this peak the production will decrease and never be the same. The oil is far from to go empty but the fact is that there is a break point is interesting. The demand on oil is increasing and together with the fact about an ending oil reserve the price for oil is going to go ’’sky high’’. Since the different recourse of energy is integrated in on large energy market the effect of Peak Oil also effect the electricity market. 60% of the worlds electricity production comes from fossil fuel. Also the electricity market has reach new high price levels.

◄ ► 6 How dependant are we ? A world wide fossil fuel dependence of 80% speaks for it self. It is a world wide problem to take care of. There is a correlation between the BNP of largest economies' and the development of energy. If the use if energy is going to be reduced due to climate changes and Peak Oil. We need to learn how to use energy more efficient otherwise the stock market all over the world is going to be effected negative.

◄ ► 7 What is the solution ? Change to another type of energy source. Solar, vind and so on A development to this type of energy sources is possible but it is expensive and it will not happen over night Energy efficiency of buildings Will be very important until there is a good alternative sources Simple tools as pen and paper, mestument instruments, calculation and good transfer of know how. Also keep or improve the indoor climate The EU directive of energy passports Main purpose is existing buildings Existing buildings are the largest issue

◄ ► 8 Swedish Energy Passport Ministry of housing owner of the process. The owner of the building are responsible to get the energy passport. They also stands for the cost. Energy audits are preformed by special energy specialists from certified companies (for example Sweco). Independent organization. Energy passport is good for 10 years

◄ ► 9 Swedish Energy Passport 1.The energy use of the building. 2.If the mandatory control of the ventilation system has been performed. 3.If Radon measurements has been done. 4.If the energy use can be improved with the same good indoor climate. If that is cost effective solution to improve the energy use should be recommended. 5.Reference values that makes it possible for the end user to compare buildings.

◄ ► 10 Energy Audits Request The costumer form is send out Incoming information is analyzed The form from the Ministry of housing is filled in and a calculation of reference values is done. If necessary a site visit is done. Proposal for improvements for energy use The energy passport is cleared i the database of the Ministry of housing
