Title Related to experiment conducted Only slide with minimal non- distracting art Font must be consistent throughout PJAS project

Research Extensive research must be done before a project can be chosen This is to be a true experiment, not a repeat of an established scientific fact or law. It can be an experiment that has been done, but is still debated. (Example, omega 3 to rid arteries of saturated fats has had a recently published study that is of great discussion in the medical field. Doing a PJAS project on this added additional data that leads to more discussion as the debate continues.)

Purpose - Problem State why this experiment is purposeful to society State the problem in question format

Hypothesis There are two ways to state the hypothesis 1)If (type the samples to be tested in the experimental groups) are compared to the standard (type the control group), then ______ (type the sample from the experimental group you selected that will be supported) will_______(type the independent variable that will be measured and your position or your expected result). EAMPLE: If 1, 2, 3, and 4 omega 3 capsules are put into.5 mL of saturated fat in a semipermeable membrane submerged in saline at body temperature and compared to the standard of 0 omega 3 capsule usage, then 1 omega 3 capsule will diffuse a greater quantity of the saturated fat out of the membrane. 2)Write one declarative statement with your position and the independent variable stated. EXAMPLE: One omega 3 capsule in.5 mL of saturated fat within a semipermeable membrane submerged in saline at body temperature will diffuse more saturate fat than 0, 2,3,or 4 omega 3 capsule(s).

VARIABLES AND GROUPS Control Group Experimental Group Independent Variable the one thing you can change. One and only one thing may be changed. Dependent Variable The measured outcome as a direct result of the independent variable. Control Variables this is a list of many as many you can manage to control to provide a consistently controlled experiment. Dependent Variable The measured outcome as a direct result of the independent variable. Control Variables this is a list of many as many you can manage to control to provide a consistently controlled experiment.

MATERIALS INCLUDE ALL MATERIALS OF IMPORTANCE OMIT PAPER/PEN COMPUTER UNLESS THEY ARE AN INTRICATE PART OF THE EXPERIENT OR SETUP YOU MUST INCLUDE QUANTITY OR A MEASUREMENT IN METRIC (EXAMPLE: ONE 500 mL Beaker)

PROCEDURE Numbered steps that start with a verb EXAMPLE – 11. Add 5mL of saturated fat to the supersaturated semipermeable membrane NO PRONOUNS THESE ARE BULLETS NOT SENTENCES Repeated steps reference step numbers EXAMPLE: 18. Repeat steps for each sample tested Each sample must be run a minimum of 3 times a minimum effort is at an average level so expect an average score.

PHOTOGRAPHS MUST BE INCLUDED OF SETUP AND RESULTS PER EACH SAMPLE AND TRIAL

Results Tables that clearly define samples and data collected with measurements and units

Results Graph 1 all data graphed Title of graph should be title of x axis vs title of y axis Title of x Title of y

Results Graph 2 average for each sample Title of graph should be title of x axis vs title of y axis Title of x Title of y

Analysis In word form use bullets of data results only No opinions No because or reason Just bullets of results in an organized manner EXAMPLE: highest to lowest

CONCLUSION LOOK AT HYPOTHESIS SLIDE Restate hypothesis based on results EXAMPLE: 1 omega 3 capsule did not diffuse more saturated fats than 0, 2,3, or 4 omega 3 capsules in 5 mL of saturated fat in saline at body temperature. Two capsules of omega 3 diffused the most saturated fat. or 1 omega 3 capsule did diffuse more saturated fats than 0, 2,3, or 4 omega 3 capsules in 5 mL of saturated fat in saline at body temperature DO NOT STATE MY HYPOTHESIS WAS RIGHT OR WRONG… DO NOT PUT A BECAUSE OR EXPLAIN

SOURCES OF ERRORS AND IMPROVEMENTS List any errors made that you discovered during or after the experiment Bullet these
