Outdoor Education October 8-10, 2014 Sandy Hill Retreats in North East, MD

What is Outdoor Education? An educational experience in an outdoor setting Focus on team building, making connections, expanding comfort-zones, and respect of the environment Approximately 220 sixth graders, 16 parents, and 10 staff members will attend from Mount View Middle.

Required for Each Student by 9/18 Check in the amount of $180, made out to MVMS** Permission Slip Health Information Form Consent Form T-Shirt Order Form

Medication Authorization Form Must be completed for each over-the- counter/nonprescription medication and MUST be signed by a physician AND parent/guardian. Medications and the authorization form must be brought to the MVMS health room by 9/25/14 (Students may NOT carry meds to Sandy Hill Retreat themselves**) Medications must be in labeled containers and unopened. Parent Volunteers carry their child’s medication no forms.

Departure and Return Wednesday, October 8, 2014 Students will arrive at MVMS no earlier than 8:30am and board buses directly (please do not block bus lanes in front of school). Please plan to drop your student off (all luggage will be stored under the bus). Check in is on the bus. Chaperones may park at the Marriotts Ridge baseball parking lot. Departure at about 8:45 am. Friday, October 10, 2014 12:00pm return to MVMS Students should be picked up by parents at that time. Medications must be picked up at the flag pole on return.

What If My Child Does Not Attend Outdoor Education at Sandy Hill? Students will attend a regular school day at Mount View. Send a Note to Science Teacher Environmental Education Lessons will be taught through our Camp Mount View program. Information will be sent home to the students who choose this option.

ODE Prep Day Students will receive a ODE tutorial in their science class the day before we leave for Sandy Hill Camp.
