Why expectations are important? Quality – to meet standarts of stakeholders Stakeholders – students, parents, employers, society To live up expectations – to have a satisfied students
The aim of the survay is to compare the changes of student expectancies and satisfaction during the study period. To find out the relationship between the students’ motivation (why they want to study), the expectancies and the study level.
Herzberg- two factor theory Hygiene factors - if absent or weak caused dissatisfaction. These related to the job environment. Motivators - lead to feelings of satisfaction. These relate to the job itself, for example its complexity, or importance

Survey 600 respondents – undergraduate and postgraduate level business students 2007/2008 academic year
Questionnaire 4 parts: the reason, why the student wants to study; the student’s expectancies; the level of satisfaction; the student’s personal data
Main findings - Motivation to study To earn a lot of money (safety need)
Main findings - Motivation to study To find new friends (Belongingness)
Main findings - Motivation to study To acquire a prestige position in a society (Esteem need)
Main findings - Motivation to study To fulfilf her-self (Self – actualisation)
Main findings – motivation to study related to the labour market To get a good job
Main findings – motivation to study related to the future job To obtain practical and theoretical knowledge for a future job
Main findings – motivation to study related to the future job To ensure more opportunities for the future
Motivation - conclusions The self- actualisation is the most important motivation for students The higher education is perceived also more as the better opportunities for the future
Main findings - Expectations The professors will give all necessary practical knowledge

Conclusions - expectations Students NOT really expect that professors will give them ALL necessary knowledge but Students expect that they will improve different kind of SKILLS

Conclusions Most of students ar rather satisfied with hygiene factors. (But the hygiene factors are insufficient conditions for high student satisfactoin.) The ‘motivation factors’ should be improved in order to meet higher student satisfaction.
