Different strokes for different folks

considerations? Blended ICT tools Bloom’s Taxonomy – Understanding[Level 2] Aspects of SDL [self-directed learning] No homework policy? Customization to students’ needs?

Tools available? iVLE Screencast- O-matic YouTubeGoogle site Nine worksheets

How to Flip? At home Specific instructions given Only needs 15min of their time to watch short clips or videos or animations In class Worksheet given based on what students watched at home Teacher walks around in class, to clarify any misconceptions, gives feedback in terms of workings and presentation of answers In progress Subsequent lessons need modification depending on the pace of students Customization to students’ needs can be done by using available of resources to making of own resources

Outcome?

Benefits? Save time[small concepts can be introduced via videos or animations] More face time with students[engaged the “silent killers”] Clarify any doubts in class, no need to wait till worksheets returned. Immediate feedback given to students Worksheets marked and returned to students promptly[the next day or two days later] as most students would have handed in on the same day.

Extended Benefits? The lesson opened to 3B2 and 3H1 though classes were taken by trainee[almost end of July then opened] Some students from these two classes downloaded worksheets and submitted for marking.[nobody asked them to do it!] Some students asked for mark schemes and marked worksheets on their own. The ivle lesson on ‘Mr Mole” was viewed 234 times.[total students=78] The lesson can be scaled up for the rest of the Sec 3 classes.

conclusions “ flipped classroom” has great impact on 3B1 attitude + confidence + grades improved Punctuality improved independent and responsible

Thank You
