Habit #6 – Synergize (Part 2)

What Does This Mean? “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” - Helen Keller

What is Synergy? Synergy Synergy is achieved when two or more people work together to create a better solution than either could alone = 3 or more

Why Geese Fly in a “V” Formation Running Time: 3:50

An Example of Synergy V Geese fly in a V-formation when traveling south for the winter. Geese can fly 71% farther in this formation than alone. When a goose flaps its wings, it creates an updraft for the goose that follows V As the lead goose gets tired, he will rotate to the back of the V and allow another goose to take the lead position. The geese honk to encourage one another. When one of the geese gets sick or wounded, two geese will follow it down to protect it until it gets better or dies.

Quick-Write On a scratch piece of paper, take three minutes to write about the lessons that can be learned from the geese. Be prepared to share out with the class!

Another Example of Synergy One 2” x 4” beam can support 607 pounds. So two 2” x 4” beams should be able to support 1,214 pounds….right? Actually, two 2” x 4” beams can support 1, 821 pounds - Nailed together they can support 4,878 pounds Three 2” x 4” beams nailed together can support 8,481 pounds!

Synergy in Lumber Running Time: 2:30

Quick-Write On a scratch piece of paper, take three minutes to write about the lessons that can be learned from the synergy of lumber. Be prepared to share out with the class!

Thank you Letters to Mrs. Thoren Date Dear Mrs. Thoren, Paragraph 1 – Introduction – who you are, why you are in AVID Paragraph 2 – what you learned from her presentation – give specific details Paragraph 3 – give thanks and share how you plan to apply what you learned Closing, Signature
