Slide 2 Tell students they will describe their mother’s appearance. You may elicit the words they already know to describe people’s appearance. ‘My mom is’ will appear. Click to reveal a picture and elicit ‘tall’. Click to reveal answer. Another picture will appear, elicit ‘short’. Next, ‘She has’ will appear. Pictures will illustrate ‘dark’ and ‘fair’ skin. Click to reveal answer. Then, elicit the color to describe hair. Click to show color ‘yellow’ and elicit ‘blonde’. Repeat procedure. At the end, help students form a full sentence, for instance: ‘My mom is tall. She has dark skin and brown eyes.’ Have students tell their partners about their mom’s appearance.

Slide 3 Refer students to the slide. Provide each student with a sheet of paper and some colored pencils or crayons. Tell students they will draw their mother. Collect all the drawings and glue them to the wall. Have students go around the room and guess whose mother is on each drawing. After some time collect the drawings back and elicit from the group whose mother is in your hands. Give a point to the students who answers correctly.

Slide 3 Tell students they will play a game called ‘I love my mom because…’ Arrange students in large circle. Toss a ball to a student. This student must state one way in which he or she can show love for his or her mother. (i.e. I love my mom because she’s intelligent) Upon completion of sentence, student tosses ball to another student. Now this student must state a way in which he or she can demonstrate love for his or her mother. Any student who repeats a suggestion previously made or who fails to think of an idea within fifteen seconds is out. Encourage students to act on their ideas! back to menu
