4 A subject is a noun, which is a person, place, thing, or idea. Subjects tell us who or what the sentence is going to be about. Subjects are the most basic unit of sentence construction. Return to Main Menu

5 Adjectives are descriptive words. It modifies another person of thing in the sentence. The articles- a, an, and the- are adjectives. Return to Main Menu Click here to learn more about adjectives (It was a warm, sunny day.)

6 Modifies the subject of the sentence. Connected to the subject by a linking verb. Return to Main Menu

7 Dependent clauses cannot stand alone as a sentence. It is used to add additional information to the sentence. It IS NOT a complete thought. Return to Main Menu

8 Independent clauses are a group of words that can stand alone as a sentence. It has a subject and a verb. It IS a complete thought. Return to Main Menu
