Presentation on Orissa State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd.

The Orissa State Civil Supply Corporation, a fully owned Government undertaking incorporated under Companies Act 1956 on 3rd Sept 1980, in accordance with the then food policy of the State Govt. during The main objective is to have essential commodities within the reach of the people of Orissa especially the socially and economically weaker sections of the community. It deals with procurement, storage, transportation and distribution and also monitors the public distribution system in the State. To fulfill its objective it can engage itself or any Agency, Corporation and firm, Take over Government projects or services relating to civil Supplies.

MANAGEMENT The Corporation is managed by the Board of Directors consisting of Senior Govt. Officials and non-official Director as Chairman.  Chairman at present non-official Director.  Commissioner-Cum-Secretary, F.S. & C. W Dept.  Principal Secretary, Agriculture Department.  Managing Director.  General Manager, FCI.  Additional Secretary, Finance Department.  Deputy Secretary, P.E. Department.  F.A.-Cum-Jt. The Board of Directors are the authority of the Corporation to decide matters on the management and administration of the Corporation subject to the directions and the policy of the Government.

The Corporation appoints Transport-Cum-Storage Agents for each Blocks and Municipalities of the States by calling every year to transport, and store and the distribution of essential commodities to 30,000 retail fair price shops approximately appointed by the State Government throughout the State. They are paid remuneration for their services as per the Government approved rates. Prior to the Transport-Cum-Storage Agents were allowed to lift the essential commodities, without pre deposit cost but from the agents could lift the essential commodities only after the prepayment as per the policy of the Corporation.

IN FLOUR : IN FLOUR : At present market price of Atta is Rs.15/- & above. Our strategy to intervene in flour market is in final stage to bring down its price around Rs. 12/- per Kg. BESIDES THESE, ALWAYS IN LOOK OUT TO ENCOUNTER SUCH ISSUES THOSE WOULD THREATEN MARKET STABILITY.

Mobile vans/Hat Sale. Deployment of 93 mobile vans under Hat Sale schemes made in all the ITDP areas. To run each vans, the Corporation has engaged one driver, one S.A.- cum-G.A. and Helper-cum- Kantawalla. Commodities like Rice, wheat, sugar, kerosene etc. are made available to the consumers at subsidised rates in remote/inaccessible GPs in the ITDP/DPAP Blocks at their door step. Model Fair Price Shops. (Maitree) Model fair price shops are opened in different urban districts of the State to make availability of essential commodities at reasonable price to consumers. Each shop is manned by one S.A.-cum-G.A. and one Kantawalla. Each shop has been tagged with ration cards in the scale of so that these shops are made economically viable to the consumers. At present 34 shops are functioning in the Corporation as per the table.
