7  Independent Mid-Day Meal Authority under a Director with Chief Secretary being the Chairman of State level Governing Body  Director assisted by Additional Director, Joint Director, Deputy Directors, Asst. Directors & Chief Finance Officer  Authority co-ordinates with Food & Civil Supplies, FCI, Panchayati Raj, Health, Urban Dev. & other related Deptts.  Monitors implementation of the scheme  Co-ordinates with GOI & Govt. of UP 7

10  External evaluation of impact of the mid-day meal programme was commissioned by Udyamita Vikas Sansthaan, Lucknow, G.B. Pant Institute of Social Science, Allahabad & Lucknow University, Lucknow  The Gist of findings of above monitoring institutions are as follows 10

11  Positive Responses from students  Children were satisfied with the food  MDM was served on daily basis  Weekly menu has to be followed by all schools  MDM Programme has succeeded in reducing the dropout rate  MDM Programme has also succeeded in breaking boundaries and Bringing about social equity and equality  Community sensitization and awareness campaign about MDM should be mounted for parents 11

22  Training Program with co-ordination of UNICEF for Block Education Officers  Inspection on the basis of Exception Report of IVRS. 22

23  Successful implementation of IVRS based Daily Information System; module for sending information of funds transfer in “Madhyan Bhojan Nidhi” through System generated SMS to teachers is being rolled-out soon.  Login and password allotted to Block Education Officers for exception report based intensive monitoring of programme at block level.  System successfully replicated by the State Govt. for monitoring ICDS and for monitoring distribution of books under SSA. 23

24 24  Double barrel gas cylinder for cooking of MDM in each & every school.  Eating Plates, Glass and Spoon for all children  Allotment of MME should be increased to 6% of central share like SSA.
