CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PACKET If you apply by the deadline, you will be mailed a Credential Evaluation Update by the end of MAY. This update will advise you of any requirements needed before recommendation of your credential. DEADLINE: FRIDAY, APRIL 13, 2007

CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS Mandatory electronic submission is now required by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) Electronic recommendations will not begin until after grades are posted – approximately June 15, 2007

CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS 1st step  Complete and submit the credential application and recommendation fee by the priority deadline date. 2 nd step  Your file is reviewed to make sure all requirements have been met. After final grades are posted in mid to late June, and we verify that you have successfully completed all Spring semester coursework, CSUSM recommends you for a credential via the web. We anticipate the recommendation process will be complete by the end of June for those students who have met all requirements and submitted applications by the priority deadline date. CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS 3rd step  CCTC will you a notification of recommendation for your credential. This notification will provide a link that instructs you to complete your credential application process.  You will also pay fees. Payment by MasterCard, VISA, debit/credit card, or a one-time credit card (available at most grocery stores) is the only option for payment of the on-line recommendation. The fee is $57.00

CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS 3rd step - continued  CCTC notifies the student and CSUSM via that all fees have been paid and student will be issued a credential.  Within ten to fifteen (10 – 15) working days, CCTC issues notification of credential issuance via . This serves as your verification (C-19) letter.

CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS 4th step  The Credential is issued by CCTC.  You may verify issuance of your credential at: or go to: and click on “Lookup a Credential” located in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. NOTE: It is important to notify CCTC, CSUSM Enrollment Services and COE Student Services Center of a change in mailing or address, especially if there is a change before you receive your credential.

Credential/Diploma  The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing issues your credential document, not CSUSM. The Governor, Commission Director and Chair sign this document.  CSUSM issues a diploma to those who complete the M.A. in Education.

English Learner Authorization for Level II  *EDUC 646 or verification of completion of Induction program Current holders of a CLAD/BCLAD certificate or emphasis or the new SB2042 credential do not need the following two courses:  *EDUC 641 Sociocultural Contexts of Language and Learning  *EDUC 602 School communities in a Pluralistic Society (Note: EDUC 602 is required if completing Masters Program) * If you were admitted prior to Summer 2007, these courses or equivalencies are recommended to add the English Learner Authorization to your Special Education credential. If you are admitted beginning Summer 2007, these courses are required.

Grading Policies: Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) is given for student teaching/intern teaching. The minimum acceptable final grade for the courses in the professional education sequence is C+ (2.5), but a B (3.0) average must be maintained. Please refer to page 196 of the Cal State San Marcos General Catalog Credential Grading Policy
