2 Why CSUSB Accredited by:  California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC)  National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)  Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Apply credential courses toward MA. Masters degree in four to six quarters. Credential courses are available as electives. Faculty have national & international reputation as leaders in education. Save thousands of dollars each year compared to a private university. All courses are on-line. Degree is eligible for financial aid.

3 Program Opportunities The M.A. in education with an option in career and technical education is designed to provide advanced and specialized education to personnel working in a variety of settings related to career and technical education such as secondary, post-secondary, private institutions, and workforce development training. The program should also meet the requirements for leadership positions in these facilities.

4 Admission Requirements Possess a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university. Prior to being admitted to the Master of Arts program in the College of Education, applicants must be admitted to the university as an unclassified graduate student. Application for admission to the university should be made at least 3 months prior to the date the applicant would like to be taking courses.

5 Advancement to Candidacy In order to formally advanced to candidacy must have: Been accepted to the College of Education as a classified student; Completed the Graduate Entrance Writing Requirement; Filed an approved graduate program form for completion of the degree. As the career and technical education core consists of 3 sequential courses: ECTS 637, 638, and 639, students should start with EDUC 306 writing requirement, then complete emphasis areas and the education core courses EDUC 603, 605, and 637.

6 Graduation Requirements - 45 Units A minimum of 45 quarter units of acceptable work, with 32 completed in residence at this university; A minimum of 22 units of credit taken after a student has been advanced to candidacy for the degree; A grade point average of 3.0 ("B") in course work taken to satisfy the Master of Arts degree requirements AND Grades of "C" (2.0) or better in all courses in the program; Registration and successful completion of a master's degree project (EDUC 600) or comprehensive examination (ECTS 999); The graduation writing requirement is met upon successful completion of the master's degree project or comprehension examination; Any additional general requirements not cited above and listed on Page 368 of the University Bulletin.

7 Graduation Requirements - 45 Units The program may not include more than 13 quarter units in approved extension and transfer courses from other colleges. California State University, San Bernardino will not consider for transfer credit course work from an institution which will not accept that work in its own advanced degree program. 32 quarter units musts be completed as a regularly enrolled student at CSUSB in this program.

8 Projects Students will be encouraged to present projects in a variety of media. The purpose of the project is for the student to communicate ideas gained in research, experimentation and creative endeavors; therefore, students should not feel bound to the traditional forms. A satisfactory project is one which can be reported in the form of a paper and/or through other media. The project proposal must be approved by the student's advisor and one other professor in the College of Education and submitted in an approved format. All projects will be planned in consultation with the student's advisor. Further information is available from the College of Education regarding an approved format for the project proposal and project.

All courses taken must be approved and discussed with advisor prior to beginning the program.

14 Admission Process 1. File an application through CSU Mentor 2. Submit a non-refundable $55 application fee (check, money order, credit card or atm) 3. Submit official transcripts to CSUSB Graduate Admissions Office 4. Submit three (3) letters of recommendation to CSUSB Graduate Admissions Office 5. Complete EDUC 306 with a minimum “B” grade or pass the WREE prior to admission or within the first two quarters 6. Contact program coordinator for advising and program plan.
