Government Technology magazine – October Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman states “We started out by setting up regional networks with the ultimate idea that we would connect the regional networks and have a statewide system.” “We brought them all together. We outlined our goals.” “We’ll take our homeland security money that is coming from the federal government and put in a statewide interoperable communications system.” “Here is the other key: We had a very successful regional project….twenty five counties got together…… a lot of barriers dropped by the wayside”.

The History (Cont) 2007 – Funding for State network approved – System of systems 2008 – RFP released and contract awarded to Motorola 2009 – Create Governance Councils 2009/2010 – Statewide system built
