How did you attract/address your audience?

Social Networking We attracted our audience by setting up a Facebook page and twitter account, we then released a teaser trailer on YouTube to attract more people, people who would to watch the film and find out more would then search for us on social networking sites and would like and follow. Every now and then we would release screen shots from our film and pictures of the actors on set, to attract our secondary audience which are fans of the actors we would announce that certain actors were in the film and advertise them as the main selling point, secondary fans would want to watch the film because they are fans of the actors and would want to see what they’re doing now.

Web 2.0 Using web 2.0 the secondary audience who are fans of the actors might search for something on amazon relating to the actor, using web 2.0 certain companies share info with each other so if the audience member then goes on YouTube it might come up with an advert for our film, or if the film is released on Dvd the audience might go on Netflix or Amazon Prime and the sites my recommend to our audience member our film because of the searches they did for the actors on other sites.

Action/Enigma Code The action code in our film is when the main character picks up a knife this connotes mystery as well as violence because the knife could be the potential murder weapon. Our product uses the enigma code to reveal the main character, in the first scene you see a car driving up a hill and turning a corner till it arrives at the scene of the crime, this makes the audience wonder who this person is.

Marketing We used below the line advertising strategies like talk shows, we would have one or two of our main actors talk about the film and themselves which will help connect with the audience. Fans who normally watch Talk shows might become interested in watching the film from watching the actors talk about it. We could also use above the line advertising like TV ads, someone who’s just watching TV might see the Ad and be convinced to see the film in cinema, wait for the film to come out on a streaming site or DVD

Stereotypes The stereotypes featured in our film are that the detectives are all male and all have the important jobs such as solving crimes, whereas the woman have been negatively stereotyped as weak because the first women you see is murdered.

Editin g Another way we addressed the audience is through our rhythmic and effective editing we use a wipe pan shot to show the quick transition between scenes and so the audience won’t get board after seeing shot after shot. We used over the shoulder shots during conversations to show the facial expressions of the characters when they receive a new piece of information.

Mise en scene We used the mise en scene in our product to immerse the audience in our film, we achieved this by making the crime scene look realistic by having people walk around picking up objects and looking at the body, making it seem that they’re actually investigating the murder. We also had all the detectives wear shirts and ties to signify to the audience that they’re all members of the police force.
