John Locke Baron de Montesquieu Voltaire Cesar Beccaria Purpose of government is to protect peoples’ Natural Rights that of Life, Liberty, Property The best way to protect people’s rights is to divide power into 3 branches Freedom of speech is the only way to fight oppression People should receive a speedy and fair trial.
