Leadership is Influence Everyone influences someone. We never know who or how much we influence. The best investment in the future is a proper influence today. Influence is a skill that can be developed.

Ladder of Leadership Level 1: Position Level 2: Permission Level 3: Production Level 4: People Development Level 5: Personhood

Level 1 Position-Rights To be successful: Know the job description. Know the history of the organization Accept responsibility Perform with consistent excellence Do more that expected Offer ideas for change and improvement

Level 2 Permission Relationships To be successful Love the people See through other people’s eyes Love people more than procedures Do “win-win” or don’t do it Include others in the journey Deal wisely with difficult people

Level 3 Production-Results To be successful: Initiate and be responsible for improvement Develop and follow a purpose statement Develop accountability for results Know and do things that bring high return Communicate purpose statement to all Make difficult decision that have impact Become a change agent

Climbing the Steps of Leadership The higher you go, the longer it takes. The higher you go, the higher the level of commitment. The higher you go, the easier it is to lead. The higher you go, the greater the growth.

Leadership Key Integrity Integrity: - is not what we do as much as who we are. -b-builds trust. -h-has high influence value. -f-facilitates high standards -r-results in a solid reputation, not just image. -M-Means living it myself before leading others. -i-is a hard-won achievement.

Leadership Key Priorities The Pareto Principle: 20% of your priorities will give you 80% of your production IF you spend your time, energy, money, and personnel on the top 20% of your priorities. *It’s not how hard your work; it’s how smart you work.*
