Becoming a Citizen

Citizenship is… To be a member of a nation or country and to have full rights and responsibilities under the law.

The Application Process: only open to legal immigrants Immigrate legally and send a Declaration of Intent to INS If over 18 years old, file an application. Live in the US for 5 years OR for 3 years if married to a US citizen Good character (must pass a background check) Take classes in English, US History, & Gov Interview with the INS
