Honors Achievement Award Basics You must fill out a new application every semester You must have already completed at least 12 credits at the 100+ level at a Maricopa Community College and have an MCCCD cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 The award amount is based on the number of course credits you are enrolled in per Fall or Spring semester (only for classes at the 100+ level) This is an Honors scholarship that awards for scholarly projects

Honors Achievement Award Requirements Your EMCC Honors project cannot be done at an outside college You must fulfill all requirements by the designated deadlines Classes below the 100 level will not be calculated for award You must earn a “C” or higher on your Honors project to be awarded

The Process Step by Step

Calculating Your Cumulative GPA The “Cumulative Total” column shown in the MyMaricopa Student Center is not what we use to compute your GPA for this scholarship Your cumulative GPA is computed from all community colleges you have attended in the Maricopa County Community College District Example

Scholarship Award Amounts Amount award is based on the number of credit hours currently enrolled in (summer excluded): The maximum award is $500 per semester per student to assist with college tuition, registration fees, books or supplies. Your award is disbursed to you a few weeks after the semester ends. If you complete more than one Honors project per semester, you are awarded scholarship money for one project and Honors points for all projects. $500 for 12+ credit hours $325 for credit hours $244 for credit hours

Course Enrichment Plan (CEP) This form explains your project components. Find it in your Honors Canvas under “Assignments” Fill it out online, save it as a document, then upload it in Canvas by designated deadline (Cohort classes don’t require a CEP)

Class Schedule - Section vs Cohort The encircled ‘H’ means Honors class But you need to open the class description to verify if it is an Honors Section or Cohort class

Honors Section Class *Online classes subject to instructor approval This is a traditional class that reserves some seats for Honors studentsYou are required to submit a CEP through Canvas by the designated deadlineCreate an Honors project that is pre-approved by your instructorPresent the project in class by a date agreed upon with your instructor Upload your project into Canvas after presenting and then you hand deliver a completed End of Semester Checklist to the Honors Department by the designated deadline

Honors-Only Cohort Class Cohort means: “a group of people banded together or treated as a group” Cohort classes have all Honors students in them with the project already built in You may take a Cohort class, but it is not requiredYou do not fill out a CEP for a Cohort class

You must attend one Honors- sponsored event/co-curricular activity each semester. After logging into Canvas, click on “Calendar” near the top left of the page. Then click on “EMC Fall 2015 Honors Achievement” to view dates and times. Honors-Sponsored Events/ Co-Curricular Activities

After attending an event or co-curricular activity, you must submit a typed summary into Canvas by the designated deadline. Requirements are: 2 full pages long Size 12 font 1-inch margins all around double-spaced Composing a Summary Write about your reflections and observations!! Example
