4 Honors Achievement Requirements (make note of your deadlines) Choose one of your classes to do an Honors project in Ask instructor for permission to do your Honors project in their class Agree on project details with instructor then fill out and submit your CEP Research, create, then present your project to your class Upload your project in CANVAS Attend one Honors- sponsored event Type & upload a full 2-page event summary Print out an End of Semester Checklist Fill out Section A/Instructor fills out Section B Hand deliver your completed End of Semester Checklist to Honors office

5 Course Enrichment Plan (CEP) This form explains your project components. Find it in your Honors Canvas under “Assignments” Fill it out online, save it as a document, then upload it in Canvas by designated deadline (Cohort classes don’t require a CEP)

6 Attend one Honors-sponsored event/co-curricular activity for the semester. In Canvas, click on “Calendar” near the top left of the page. Then click on “EMC Fall 2015 Honors Achievement” to view dates and times. Honors-Sponsored Events/ Co-Curricular Activities

7 Attend one event or co-curricular activity for the semester, then submit a typed summary into Canvas by the designated deadline. Summary requirements are: 2 full pages long Size 12 font 1-inch margins all around double-spaced Composing a Summary Write about your reflections and observations!! Example

9 End of Semester Checklist After presenting your project to your class, locate this form in the “Assignments” section:  Student fills out Section A  Instructor fills out Section B  Student hand delivers completed form to the Honors office by the designated deadline

10 Scholarship Award Amounts Amount award is based on the number of credit hours currently enrolled in (summer excluded): The maximum award is $500 per semester per student to assist with college tuition, registration fees, books or supplies. Your award is disbursed to you a few weeks after the semester ends. If you complete more than one Honors project per semester, you are awarded scholarship money for one project and Honors points for all projects. $500 for 12+ credit hours $325 for 9 -11 credit hours $244 for 6 - 8 credit hours

11 Calculating Your Cumulative GPA The “Cumulative Total” column shown in the MyMaricopa Student Center is not what we use to compute your GPA for this scholarship Your cumulative GPA is computed from all community colleges you have attended in the Maricopa County Community College District Example

12 Class Schedule - Section vs Cohort The encircled ‘H’ means Honors class But you need to open the class description to verify if it is an Honors Section or Cohort class

13 Honors-Only Cohort Class Cohort means: “a group of people banded together or treated as a group” Cohort classes have all Honors students in them with the project already built in You can take a Cohort class any semester, but it is not requiredCohort classes don’t require a CEP

15 Honors Expo This event showcases scholarly research as individuals or small group (up to 3 members) Create a scholarly presentation based on our current theme Design a Poster Board, PowerPoint or Oral Presentation Practice, practice, practice You will present before a panel of judges Top 3 individuals travel to compete at the Honors Western Regional Conference Next Honors Expo: Wed, Nov 18, 8 am – 4 pm *Not Mandatory This Year’s Theme: “Frontiers and the Spirit of Exploration”

18 Scholarship Opportunities * All-USA Scholarship (Fall semester) This is an annual competition open to students who will be transferring on to an accredited 4-year institution of higher education. This scholarship pays two full years of tuition to one of our three Arizona public universities (ASU, NAU, or U of A) with money awarded for transfer: Link to Scholarship FlierLink to Scholarship Flier * Chancellor's Scholarship (Spring semester) Offered to one student at each college annually, selected by a college committee. It awards an amount up to 18 letter graded credits of in-county tuition and the registration fee for each semester, plus $250 each semester for books and supplies. To be eligible, a current full-time Honors student must enroll at the college awarding the scholarship on a full-time basis for the following year, and maintain an MCCCD cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. * Maricopa Colleges Faculty Foundation Scholarship (Spring & Fall semester) This scholarship is awarded based upon the college Honors Coordinator’s decision. Amounts can vary. Check with your Honors Coordinator for eligibility requirements (International Students are eligible to apply): Link to Scholarship Website
