4 AP VS DUAL CREDIT Dual Credit Advanced Placement (AP)
College level course with credit awarded upon successful completion “C” or higher. Taught by master degree college faculty Taught on college campus, online, or at the high school campus Final grade based on variety of assignments/ instructor syllabus College credit awarded with a “C” or higher Accepted by public universities in Texas College level course with potential to earn college credit. Taught by AP certified HS faculty Taught on the high school campus Required score on AP exam at the completion of course Accepted throughout the US Credit is determined by individual universities

Reduced tuition rate Tuition Grants From NCTC Dual Credit Foundation Scholarships In district-Tax Paying (Cooke County): $25 per semester credit hour Most courses are 3 credit hour ($75) Out of District-Non-Taxed (Denton & Montague Counties): $100 per semester Credit Hour $300 per 3 hour course Branch Taxed District (Graham): $40 per semester credit hour $120 per 3 hour course Currently 6 hours, per semester waived for students eligible and participating in the high school Free/Reduced Federal Lunch program. Check with your high school counselor for more information. Fall Semester Deadline: April 15 Spring Semester Deadline: October 15 Online application For scholarships opens approximately one month prior to deadline Scholarships.nctc.edu *Specialized programs may have additional costs not covered by grants and scholarships.

High school Textbooks are free High school is free 504 Accommodations College textbooks are Not free and often expensive You pay College Tuition for each class you take 504 Accommodations DO NOT transfer to college courses. Student must contact and meet with the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD)

14 APPLY DOCUMENTS NEEDED HS/College Transcript Shot Record Test Scores (ACT, SAT, TSI) PREASSESSMENT ACTIVITY (if TSI testing) TSI TEST (if needed) Register HS Counselor Has Registration Forms Pay Tuition in MYNCTC or in person at Business Office Buy Textbooks It is important that you do not wait until the last minute to start the process. Deadlines at high schools may be different. A more extensive timeline may be found at the Dual Credit area of the website.

16 A Dual Credit Student Registration Form is required for registration.
Students must have a complete admission file before registering for courses: •Application from •TSI college ready scores •High school/college transcripts Students should check MY NCTC STUDENT SERVICE PORTAL to verify if admission file is complete. Student receive communications by regarding their admission status. Check with your high school for specific information for registering . It may be different at each school.

18 Student Parent Orientation Completed
Most high schools will require a printed copy of attendance. Please print and sign a copy of attendance certificate for your records and for your high school counselor.
