Usage of the Present Subjunctive
Presentation transcript:

¿Cómo quieres que sea tu vida? Objective: To use the present subjunctive and indicative to express your hopes for the future. Instructions: Think of your preferences for a future spouse or partner, home or apartment, or occupation. What are your hopes for each of these? What is essential and what is a preference? For each Use of the Subjunctive (WEIRDO) include pictures and sentences about your future. Remember that in order to use the subjunctive there has to be a CHANGE in subject for the second clause (after QUE) except with doubt. Prepare your description of what you want your life to be like. Prepare a rough draft, carefully considering what present tense form is needed for each statement. Keep in mind: ALL the uses of the subjunctive (WEIRDO) must be used to express your wishes, emotions, request, etc. You MUST expand on what you want in ways which don’t need the subjunctive. You want to show that you know WHEN to use the subjunctive and WHEN to use the indicative or infinitive. For example, you might say, “A mí me gusta viajar y me gusta probar mucha comida diferente. Es necesario que mi futuro esposo no tenga miedo de otras culturas y que quiera comer comidas nuevas.” Make it real! We should be able to learn something about you! What do you really hope for? What is really important to you? As much as you can, stay within the vocabulary you have learned this year.
