New Visions A.P. Environmental Science and Sustainability

New Visions Model New Visions is a New York State approved curriculum Purpose is to provide Seniors an opportunity to explore a specific career and earn college credits Students learn knowledge related to their field in classroom setting Students do Internships with people working in the field and gain real world experience Field trips and speakers provide more knowledge about careers and opportunities

Job Prospects in the Field-Very Promising Stimulus monies in green technologies, alternative energies and reducing carbon emissions Industries moving towards sustainability Research support for environmental solutions

Class Information 10:00-2:00 every day Teatown Lake Reservation Classroom Field experience with scientists and environmental educators September through June Individual Internships February through June on Mondays and Fridays A.P. Environmental Science Curriculum Student Research Project School Districts provide transportation to Teatown or Tech Center, must be arranged in advance by family.

A.P. Science Curriculum Environment the Science Behind the Stories (3 rd ed.) and Living in the Environment (14 th ed.) Labs include things such as: – Quadrat study of biodiversity – water pollution levels – Soil analysis – LD50 experiment – Succession study – Air Pollution levels – Cemetery Study of Population – Solar Energy Efficiency in various weather conditions
