WERRIBEE PRIMARY SCHOOL RESPECT, COURTESY, RESPONSIBILITY, CO-OPERATION

SCHOOL VALUES AT WERRIBEE PRIMARY SCHOOL, A BEHAVIOUR MATRIX HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO INFORM STUDENTS OF THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOURS. IT IS EXPECTED THAT STUDENTS DISPLAY RESPECT, CO-OPERATE WITH OTHERS, BE RESPONSIBLE AND SHOW COURTESY TO ONE ANOTHER WHEN THEY ARE AT SCHOOL. THIS TERM, OUR FOCUS FOR SOCIAL SKILLS IS CO-OPERATION SO TEACHERS WILL BE LOOKING EXTRA CAREFULLY FOR STUDENTS PLAYING SAFELY AND HAPPILY AROUND THE SCHOOL!

REWARDS THIS TERM! TEACHERS REWARD AND RECOGNISE STUDENTS WHO DISPLAY OUR SCHOOL VALUES IN A VARIETY OF WAYS. EACH TEACHER DESIGNS AND IMPLEMENTS A POSITIVE REWARD SYSTEM IN THEIR CLASSROOM, REWARDS MAY INCLUDE: VERBAL PRAISE STICKERS/STAMPS SPOT AWARDS WHOLE CLASS REWARD SYSTEMS TEACHERS MAY ALSO USE OTHER STRATEGIES SUCH AS WRITING A SPECIAL LETTER OR MAKING A SPECIAL PHONE CALL TO PARENTS.

WHAT ARE THE PURPLE TOKENS? HOW DOES A STUDENT RECEIVE A PURPLE TOKEN? TEACHERS AND STAFF HAND OUT PURPLE TOKENS IN THE SCHOOL YARD WHEN STUDENTS HAVE DISPLAYED OUR SCHOOL VALUES. WE LIKE TO CALL IT “CATCHING THEM OUT”. THIS COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS USING THEIR MANNERS TO HELP ANOTHER STUDENT WHEN IN DISTRESS OR RETURNING A BALL TO THE PEOPLE PLAYING WITH IT. THE PURPLE TOKENS ARE A FORM OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, A SIMPLE AND INSTANT WAY TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR DISPLAYED BY A STUDENT. STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE PURPLE TOKENS GO INTO A RAFFLE EACH WEEK TO WIN A PRIZE AT ASSEMBLY. AFTER RECESS AND LUNCH TIMES, TEACHERS IN THEIR CLASSROOMS WILL ALWAYS CHECK TO SEE IF ANY OF THE STUDENTS HAVE RECEIVED A TOKEN! SOME GRADES EVEN HAVE A SPECIAL DANCE TO CELEBRATE WHEN A CHILD RECIEVES ONE!

PURPLE TOKEN RAFFLE EACH WEEK TOKENS WILL BE COLLECTED EVERY THURSDAY BY THE JUNIOR SCHOOL COUNCILORS. REMEMBER TO WRITE YOUR NAME AND GRADE CLEARLY ON THE TOKEN SO IT’S EASY TO READ. THE TOKENS WILL BE CATEGORIZED IN THEIR DIFFERENT YEAR LEVELS, AND EACH YEAR LEVEL WILL HAVE ONE NAME DRAWN OUT AT ASSEMBLY! PRIZES WILL VARY WEEK TO WEEK! THIS IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT TO THE PAST AS A STUDENT FROM EVERY YEAR LEVEL WILL NOW HAVE AN INCREASED CHANCE OF BEING DRAWN!

PURPLE TOKEN BOARD THIS TERM, WE REALLY WANT TO CELEBRATE THE STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE A PRIZE AND SAY THANK YOU FOR SHOWING YOUR SCHOOL VALUES. AS A SPECIAL THANKYOU, A PHOTO WILL BE TAKEN OF THE WINNERS EACH WEEK AT THE END OF ASSEMBLY. YOUR PHOTO WILL THEN BE UPLOADED ONTO THE PURPLE TOKEN BOARD WHICH WILL BE LOCATED IN THE WELL BEING OFFICE. YOU WILL BE A STAR! THE PURPLE TOKEN BOARD WILL BE ON DISPLAY ALL TERM, SO YOUR FACE WILL BE UP THERE TO STAY! REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR PARENTS/FRIENDS PAST THE BOARD TO SEE YOUR FACE IF YOU DO WIN!.

FREE PLAY IF YOU’RE ONE OF THOSE STUDENTS WHO RECEIVE PURPLE TOKENS, HOWEVER HAVE NEVER BEEN LUCKY IN THE WEEKLY RAFFLE, THIS MAY BE YOUR LUCKY CHANCE! FREE PLAYS WILL BE HAPPENING IN WEEK 5 AND WEEK 10 OF THIS TERM AND NAMES WILL BE ANNOUNCED OVER THE SPEAKER!
