Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! Nacelink network Use the Keywords and Location to narrow your job search. Once you hit “Search NACElink Extended Job search” you will be redirected to a page depicted on the following slide.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! Nacelink network This network is out side of PBA and has a great deal of job listings around the country. You may continue your search here through the search bars at the top of the screen. Once you select a job, click the link and you will be redirected to the company’s application page. LinkedIn is acceptable to create an account with one of these companies but please do not use your Facebook.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! Job finding strategies It is important to use certain strategies when searching for jobs on PBA Jobs or on NACElink. Strategy 1: Research your field Go to Resources>Career Explorer to learn more about your industry and what types of jobs go with it. You might be surprised. Learn some of the main keywords for your industry to use as search terms

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! Job finding strategies Strategy 2: Key Words Key words are very important to Job searches in PBA JobLink The way you use search terms will determine what type of jobs you find. For example part time will give different results than parttime or part-time Use a word in multiple ways to find the most listings.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! Job finding strategies Key Words Continued… To get partial matches, add an asterisk to your search term: manage* To exclude results which include certain words, prepend them with a minus:manage* -weather To search for specific phrases, use double quotes: "store manager" Search terms shorter than 3 characters are ignored, except in "phrase" searches, where some (but not all) words may be shorter.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! Job finding strategies Strategy 3: Location – Narrowing and Widening the Search When using location, keep some things in mind. Make sure to list a location. This will determine a large part of your job availability. Do not be overloaded with jobs that are out of your “range” of possibility. Widen your range enough to include zip codes of large cities near you. You may be listing the right key words but if you only have your settings within a small town you may be missing hundreds of opportunities next door.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!!! Job finding strategies Strategy 4: Treat your job search like a part-time job. Do not give up just because there are few opportunities today. Never limit yourself to a certain job title. Your skills may be very transferable. Take the time to fill out all the information in your search and totally complete every application process you start. Persevere and you will find the reward.
