10 Managing Your Profile – Documents 1.You must upload your resume before you can apply to any posted positions on eRecruiting. 2.Publish your resume to make it viewable to employers. Some employers browse resume books for students with a particular skills rather than posting a position. Publishing your resume will increase the chance that a potential employer will contact you. 3.Some employers see your cover letter as indicating interest in the company. Upload and manage your cover letters through eRecruiting. To upload and publish resumes and cover letters, pull down the Documents menu

11 Managing Your Profile – Documents 1. Upload your Resume 1. Pull down the Documents menu, and select ‘upload a document’ 2. Select the type of document to upload, click on Next. In the next form, use the browse button to select your resume document and click on Upload.

Scroll down to see a list of all your resumes on the eRecruiting system, and what employers have viewed your resumes. Tip: Be sure to publish your most recent resume. Employers will not have full access to your resume unless you publish it in a resume book created by the CSC. Tip: View your resume after it’s been loaded by clicking on the resume name. Check for any formatting problems with the document.

13 Managing Your Profile – Documents 2. Publish your Resume 1. Pull down the Documents menu, and select ‘publish a resume’ 2. Select the resume from the drop- down list, then click the Update button below the drop-down lists.

14 Managing Your Profile – Documents 3. Upload a cover letter (or other documents) Go through the same process to upload a cover letter as a resume. However, cover letters are not published to recruiters, they will be individually attached to a job posting as you apply.

15 Managing Your Profile – Applications Once you’ve applied to interview for a job or internship, you will be able to view and manage that application through your profile. This includes: Viewing the status of your application (accepted, alternate, undecided, declined) Signing up for an interview time Changing a scheduled interview time Withdrawing an application Canceling an interview (see CSC Policies section of this tutorial for details) Applications are divided into two groups: active and past. All applications appear in the Active applications section for at least 14 days. After that, any application that is not waiting for an employer decision will appear in the Past applications section.

16 Managing Your Profile – Applications To view the status of applications you’ve already submitted, pull down the Applications menu to Active Applications. If you are still within the application date range and the employer has not yet made a decision, you may still change your application materials (update your resume, etc.) Tip: Check the application date range before attempting to change your application. Your application will be permanently deleted if you withdraw your application materials outside the application date range. To schedule an interview after the employer accepts your application, click on the Details button next to that opportunity.

17 Managing Your Profile – Calendar The calendar for the MBA program (including the MBA Career Center) is managed and accessed through eRecruiting. You will use this calendar to: View a list and details for upcoming MBA program and recruiting events for a specific day or month Sign up for events (RSVP) Search for events View and manage the events and interviews you’ve already signed up for Note: Do NOT search for job and internship openings through the Calendar function. 18 18 Managing Your Profile – Calendar To see a list of all events for the current or another month To view upcoming MBA program and recruiting events To search for a specific type of event (corporate presentations, student association events, etc.) To view and manage the events you’re currently registered for Click on the link for event details and to RSVP for the event

19 Managing Your Profile – Calendar To RSVP for an event, click on the Signup button within the event details. Tip: RSVP for events (especially Corporate Presentations) well in advance. This allows event sponsors to plan for refreshments. For corporate events, it also indicates interest in the company. Tip: Keep your RSVPs current. If you’ve already signed up and you can not attend an event, go into the event detail and withdraw from the event.

Section 5: Frequently Asked Questions

38 FAQs When would an employer see my profile information? If you apply to a job or choose to publish your resume in a resume book or in the Experience Network, employers have the ability to search your profile and resume. Will employers see all of my profile information? No. Some profile data -- like ethnicity or gender -- is available only to university staff and is not viewable by employers. See the employer's view of your profile. Why do I need a profile when I already have a resume? Your profile shows basic information at a glance, making it an easy reference tool for the career center and employers. Your resume should provide more detailed information about your experiences.

39 FAQs What do the different application statuses mean? Deadline Passed - The application was for an interview that occurred in the past. Withdrawn - The application was withdrawn by student after the job's Application Deadline. Employer Declined - The employer declined student's application for an interview. Student Declined - Student declined the employer's invitation to interview. Offline Decision - Decisions about this application are made offline. Application Cancelled - Either the job, or an interview for the job, was cancelled

40 FAQs What is the difference between a job folder and a Saved Search? Folders contain opportunities that you have elected to save. Saved Searches save your favorite search criteria so the search can be executed in one click. You can save a maximum of 50 job folders. What is the difference between an employer folder and a Saved Search? Folders contain employers that you have elected to save. Saved Searches save your favorite search criteria so the search can be executed in one click. You can save a maximum of 50 employer folders. What are "Past Applications"? Past applications include applications with past interviews, applications that the employer has declined or cancelled at least 14 days ago, and applications that you have withdrawn from or declined.

41 FAQs What is a Primary resume? A primary resume is needed when you have multiple resumes. If your career center refers your resume to an employer, the resumes designated as "Primary" will be forwarded to employers on your behalf. I’m using multiple resumes in my job search. Which one should I use as my Primary resume? If you have customized resumes for jobs in different functions, use the most generic resume as your primary. How do I change my password? Once you’ve logged into eRecruiting, pull down the Profile menu to Change your Password. I changed my business school password, and now I can’t get in to eRecruiting. What happened? The eRecruiting password does not update automatically when you change your password for the business school network. If you want to keep these passwords synchronized, manually update your password in eRecruiting every time you change your business school password.

42 FAQs The position detail says “Application Restricted”, and there is no “Apply” button. How do I submit my application? The employer has listed requirements in the Application Qualifications of the position detail, and your student record does not match with those qualifications. If you think your experience and skills would qualify you for the position, you are encouraged to contact the recruiter directly using the contact information on the position detail to request an interview. Send your resume and a cover letter stating how your unique qualifications would meet the requirements of the position. If you think your student record should match these qualifications, contact the MBA CSC.
