The answer is… When you are setting up the PPT on the lap top, make sure you already have My Career Online up in the browser My Career Online

4 How to Set Up MyCareer Online
Account and Profile STEP 1: Find the Page and Save it on Your Computer Option 1: Direct Link My Career Online ( Option 2: Go to Scroll Down to MyCareer Online Tab Click on Login Into My Career Online STEP 2: Register by Creating a Profile Show a screen shot of selecting the “My Profile” Once you have gone through the slide, then go to the link for MCO. If students in the room already have their account set up, log on as John SAMPLE and show them the importance of updating their profile. GPA, Marjor, Classification (freshman or sophomore), all * areas We recommend that they put in their languages, and especially their industry preferences and job function preferences – we don’t guarantee that we will provide additional information about upcoming resources, but if we do, we will use this information to send targeted outreach to students of interest. Show them the process in MCO Take Your Time Identify Your Major and Career Goal Identify Industry and Job Function Preference Identify Geographic Preference Or Log-In If You Have an Account Already

5 Upload Your RESUME! Don’t Know How?
Now That You Have Your Profile… Meet with a Career Specialist At UMB’s CSI Office Resumes Folder Resource Library Upload Your RESUME! Don’t Know How? Once you have talked to them about the Resource Library, literally show them the Resume Folder in MCO. Then add the screen shot that shows them the Resume section to upload. The other thing to mention to them is that uploading other documents like, cover letter, references, internship applications all happens in that section of My Documents.

My Career Online Resource Library Folder Internships Folder Tons of Info! For Example: UMB Guide to Internships Top Internship Sites & Check List Internship Search Strategies PPT How to Secure and Internship video/PPT link CM Academic Internship Request Form And MUCH MORE!

8 After showing them the slide, go right back into MCO and show them the Internships Folder and the resources.

9 Resources Library Has Multiple Guides and Tips!!!
Explore. There’s More! Resources Library Has Multiple Guides and Tips!!! Ex: Interviews, Cover Letters, LinkedIn and MORE!!! Practice Interviews with International Students Looking for US Jobs or U.S. Residents Looking to Work Abroad? Screen shot of where they are located. Actually go into the John Sample, then show them going each resources quickly.

Log-In to MyCareer Online Go to “Search Jobs and Internships” Tab Go to “Advanced Search” Enter in the “Job Category” Find what you like and Add to Favorites Save Your Search See Next 5 Slides with Screen Shots to Get a Better Picture

15 In this slide have another arrow pointing to the bottom, that says once you have read the grey section, look here to identify what you need to adjust or change or get access too. Add an additional slide that says, in order to obtain internship access, students must meet with a Career Specialist and get their resume and cover letter approved. Steps to getting internship approval Look at resume and cover letter examples, draft your documents, have them viewed by our Peer Career Advisors to get them closer to approval Upload them into My Career Online My Documents section, so staff and download and help edit them (also bring a printed copy with you to your meeting) Come prepared to ask specific questions about your resume and cover letter. The closer they are to finalized the easier it is for staff to approve them, so “help us to help you” by coming prepared.
