Why Cooking? Statutory 2 X 1 hour Physical Education is delivered in schools each week After school activity provision has grown by 83% since 2009 Food and Healthy Eating education is more ad hoc across schools Cooking and food preparation is the most accessible health-related activity that families can do together – we eat everyday!

Establishing a Cooking Club Establishing a Cooking Club Who is the club for? Targeted or Universal? Who will run the club? Is it designed to support elements of the curriculum? How will the club be financed and sustained? How many can attend? What facilities and space do you have?

Consultation Time Pupils Involve the children in the decision making from the start Parents/Carers Notify parents in newsletters and on the school website – they may end up being the volunteers you need to run the club Staff Teaching staff may wish to use the cooking club to support an area of the curriculum or targeted children Wider community Find out what is going on in your local area – district council may offer funding opportunities
