The Enlightenment The Enlightenment was an Age of Reason which was a cultural movement of intellectuals beginning in late 17th- and 18th-century Europe emphasizing reason and individualism rather than tradition. Its purpose was to reform society using reason, to challenge ideas grounded in tradition and faith, and to advance knowledge through the scientific method. It promoted scientific thought, skepticism, and intellectual interchange.

The Enlightenment The Enlightenment was a revolution in human thought. This new way of thinking was that rational thought begins with clearly stated principles, uses correct logic to arrive at conclusions, tests the conclusions against evidence, and then revises the principles in the light of the evidence. Its purpose was to reform society using reason, to challenge ideas grounded in tradition and faith, and to advance knowledge through the scientific method. It promoted scientific thought, skepticism, and intellectual interchange.

The Enlightenment Enlightenment thinkers opposed superstition and intolerance. Some Enlightenment thinkers collaborated with Enlightened despots, absolutist rulers who attempted to forcibly put some of the new ideas about government into practice. The ideas of the Enlightenment continue to exert significant influence on the culture, politics, and governments of the Western world.

Is the overarching theme of The Enlightenment Is the overarching theme of Humanism Importance of the individual Rediscovery of classical teaching The Renaissance The Scientific Revolution The Protestant Reformation

So What does this have to do with the Illuminati? The Illuminati, originally known as the Bavarian Illuminati, was an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on May 1, 1776 to oppose superstition, prejudice, religious influence over public life, abuses of state power, and to support women's education and gender equality.

So What does this have to do with the Illuminati? The Illuminati—along with other secret societies—were outlawed by the Bavarian ruler, Charles Theodore, with the encouragement of the Roman Catholic Church, and permanently disbanded in 1785. In the several years following, the group was vilified by conservative and religious critics who claimed they had regrouped and were responsible for the French Revolution.

Additional Illuminati Facts The Illuminati pulled members from existing freemasonry organizations (Masons, Order of the Eastern Star) Started out with 5, gained 2,000 members in 10 years. No evidence that it survived past its 1785 demise, however new groups claim to be their descendants. Many believe that the group is out for world domination to create a “New World Order”

So no matter how you put it

The Fact Remains….. VIDEO—10 Facts about the Illuminati

Wrap-Up Do you think the Illuminati exist today? Do you think current pop stars are members of the Illuminati? If so how do they live up to the ideals of the original Illuminati? If the Illuminati still existed in its original form, do you think their enlightenment ideals would help or harm the public?
