1 Definition of Enlightenment  Enlightenment was phase in the late 17th to the late 18th century, where people began to question about previously accepted traditions and facts. People began to ask why and wanted answers. Enlightenment was about reason, logic, criticism and freedom of thought over gods, blind faith and superstition. This movement devolped in Western Europe and is often called the; "Age of Reason."

2 Why was enlightenment a feature of this time  Enlightenment was a feature of this time because people were beginning to question and challenge the ideas of older times that had become a part of tradition, and wanted to advance knowledge, especially on topics such as science. The ideas that had been a prominent part of previous ages were having their reasoning examined and questioned, and new ideas that were based on scientific knowledge rather than ancient traditions were being formed. The age of enlightenment was formed by people such as philosophers and scientists, and was based primarily in Europe, and later in North America. The time span in which the Age of Enlightenment occurred is disputed, but it is generally believed that this age occurred between 1650 and 1800.

3 Three Facts on Enlightenment  The Enlightenment period was of complex movement, which Its leaders were called philosophes. They used reasoning to discover their surrounding.  In Germany and Scotland, the Enlightenment leaders were situated in universities. However, in general the universities and schools of Europe were supporters of traditionalism and were not accepting of the Enlightenment.  Philosophers where enlightened and came to question religion saying, religion was wrong and that science, with its dependable results and principled modesty was the way to truth (In so far as it was possible) and to happiness.
