DRUG ADDICTION IS HARMFUL FOR HEALTH

WHAT IS DRUG ADDICTION Drug addiction, also called substance use disorder, is a dependence on a legal or illegal drug or medication. All drugs are not same. Some drugs are medicines to various diseases. Again some drugs harm our health. Those are addictive drugs. These destroy a person mentally and physically. Nowadays its one of the most common problem in our society. The United Nations estimated in 2005 that there were over 50 million people worldwide who regularly used cocaine, heroin, and synthetic drugs.

KINDS OF ADDICTIVE DRUGS There are many kinds of addictive drugs. Some of them are – 1. Heroin 2. Crack Cocaine 3. Nicotine 4. Methadone 5. Cocaine 6. Amphetamines 7. GHB

1.HEROIN Heroin is a highly addictive, illegal drug. It is used by millions of addicts around the world who are unable to overcome the urge to continue taking this drug every day of their lives. Heroin also known as diamorphine. It is found naturally in the opium poppy

2. Crack Cocaine Crack cocaine is the crystal form of cocaine, which normally comes in a powder form.1 It comes in solid blocks or crystals varying in color from yellow to pale rose or white. Crack is heated and smoked. It is so named because it makes a cracking or popping sound when heated.

2.CRACK COCAINE FIGURE-CRACK COCAINE DRUG

3.NICOTINE Though nicotine doesn’t cause the rush of heroin or crack, it's biologically similar in a crucial way. It mimics a common neurotransmitter—so well that scientists named one of the acetylcholine receptors after it.

3.NICOTINE FIGURE-NICOTINE

4.METHADONE In a clinical setting, tolerance to this drug is actually considered a good thing when treating a heroin addiction. A person getting treated with methadone will quickly become resistant to its euphoric effects and use it to keep heroin withdrawal symptoms at bay. The problem is this: tolerance to methadone is a sign of an addiction to methadone.

4.METHADONE FIGURE-METHADONE DRUG

5.COCAINE The word cocaine refers to the drug in a powder form. The powder is usually mixed with substances such as corn starch, talcum powder and/or sugar or other drugs such as procaine (a local anesthetic) or amphetamines. It is extracted from coca leaves.

5.COCAINE FIGURE-COCAINE DRUGS

6. AMPHETAMINES Amphetamine is a stimulant and an appetite suppressant. It stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain) by increasing the amount of certain chemicals in the body. This increases heart rate and blood pressure and decreases appetite, among other affects. Regular amphetamine might not be quite as addictive as meth, but because it acts on the same reward circuit, it still causes rapid tolerance and desire for more if used regularly or in high doses.

6. AMPHETAMINES FIGURE-AMPHETAMINES DRUG

7.GHB Last on the list is a depressant and club drug that may itself be a neurotransmitter. Its full form is GAMMA HYDROXYBUTRYC ACID. It has cross-tolerance with alcohol—if a person drink regularly, he`ll need to ingest more GHB to get high—as well as a short half life in the body and a brutal withdrawal syndrome that causes insomnia, anxiety, dizziness and vomiting.

WAYS TO STOP PEPLE FROM TAKING DRUGS The people should be made understand that drugs make us separated from the world. For this we have to do the following thing- We have to make them realize the effects of drugs on them. We have show them that the world is very beautiful without drugs. We have to stop all the supplies of drugs. We should form more organization to stop people from taking drugs.
