Eastern European Immigrants since 2004 Around 1 million people moved from the new EU member states by 2008 but around half have since left the UK Poles still represent a substantial proportion of the population in UK cities.

How has it been made possible for the Poles to come to the UK? How many Poles have moved to the UK? How many eastern Europeans have moved to Peterborough? What jobs have the Eastern Europeans done since moving to Peterborough? What is so good about having Polish workers at Stamford Stone works?

Initially, men moved to the UK as single men living in rented accommodation provided by recruitment agencies such as Advance Personnel. Within a year or so
