UFSC ( Founded on December 18th, It is a free and public university. It is valued as the fifth best in Brazil, the sixth in Latin American and the 205th in the world, acording to the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, It has over 40,000 students enrolled in udergraduate and graduate programs; distance, technical, elementar and infant education, and high school. It has about 3,000 administrative staff and more than 2,000 faculty members. It has also 3 campuses in other cities of Santa Catarina: Araranguá, Curitibanos, Joinville and Blumenau.

We do not take responsibility for wrong information. - Nominations via or regular mail will not be considered. – It is not necessary to send any documents by regular mail. 2 Approve the nomination of the student through the online system after receiving the automatic informing the deadline.online system - Nominations that are not approved by the home institution until the deadline are automatically cancelled by the system. To the home institution: 1Check for an agreement between your institution and the UFSC here.here 2Access the online registration system after receiving an with the access link, login, and password. - If you did not receive the nomination , verify with your home institution if they have your correct information and require a new nomination. 3Fill out the entire enrollment form (completely). 4 Write a motivation letter in Portuguese (motivation letters written in other languages are not considered). 5 Choose the courses for the Learning Agreement. 6After printing the Learning Agreement and collecting all the required signatures, upload it on the online system.online system 7 Upload all the required documents. 8After filling out the forms and uploading the documents, save the application and click SEND (ENVIAR). - If you do not click SEND (ENVIAR) we will not consider your application. 9After receiving the acceptance letter the student must require the Student’s Visa type IV (mandatory to be enrolled at UFSC) at the Brazilian Consulate/Embassy in their home country. To the undergraduate student:

1Complete Academic Transcript of Records and a Portuguese or English translation of it (translation can be done by the student). 2Certificate of Registration at the Home Institution. 3Certificate of Portuguese Language at intermediate level - Any certificate issued by a Portuguese institution or a Portuguese professor will be accepted. - Students from Spanish speaking countries, may submit proof of proficiency as the documents cited above, or even can fill out a self declaration here and upload it in the online system.hereonline system 4Learning Agreement (printed from our online registration system with all the required signatures) 5Health insurance valid during all the mobility period covering accidents, illness, death, and repatriation of remains. - The certificate of Health Insurance must be handed to SINTER’s personnel on the enrollment day Important. Required documents The student must have at least an intermediate level of Portuguese language in order to attend courses in Undergraduate Program. Any certificate issued by a Portuguese institution or a Portuguese professor will be accepted. Students from Spanish speaking countries, may submit proof of proficiency as the documents cited above, or even can fill out a self declaration here and upload it in the online system

The Temporary Visa Item IV will be valid for an extendable period of up to 01 (one) year, if applicable, upon proof of educational attainment and declaration of extension of visa issued by SINTER. The request for extension must be officially filed at the Federal Police Department or the General Protocol of the Ministry of Justice within thirty days before the expiration of stay, based on evidence of academic achievement and statement issued by SINTER. Warning: It is not possible to change the type of Visa in Brazil, therefore the students should only leave their country of origin with a Student Visa (Temporary Visa IV) or a Temporary Resident Visa (MERCOSUR Agreement). The student will not be able to enroll at UFSC, even in the extracurricular course of Portuguese for Foreigners without a Student Visa. Students of the States Parties of MERCOSUR, Bolivia, and Chile are allowed to register at UFSC, holding a Temporary Resident Visa – MERCOSUR Agreement based on Decree n.º 6.975/09. UFSC does not offer lodging for exchange students. Thus, the students must search for their own accommodation. The Exchange students will be able to register at any Department at UFSC as long as they fulfill all the course requirements and there is vacancy seat in the chosen course. All the responsibilities related to the Exchange program such as Visa, Passport, Tickets, Lodging, Transportation, and Living Expenses are under students’ responsibility, whether the student has scholarship/financial aid or not. The Exchange students will not pay any fee at UFSC, except for extra-curricular activities. The only fees that the students will pay are related to the home institution, in case there is any.
