Yamhill County: Evidence-Based Decision Making (EBDM) NIC selects Yamhill to Implement Evidence-Based Decision Making Yamhill sets up an EBDM collaborative policy team:  County Commissioners  Judiciary  Victim Services  Prosecution  Defense  Sheriff-Jail  Behavioral and Mental Health  Community Corrections  Community members  Information & Technology 1

1.Professional judgment is enhanced when informed by evidence-based knowledge. 2.Every point in the system is an opportunity for harm reduction. 3.Systems have better outcomes when they operate collaboratively. 4.Systems learn and improve when they base decisions on the collection, analysis, and use of data and information. Pretrial Justice Next Steps: Use data to inform decisions that will increase: the release rate of lower risk defendants the detention rate of higher risk defendants the cite and release rate by patrol deputies for lower risk defendants the pretrial court appearance rate from 83% to 95% the no new arrest rate from 87% to 95% 13
