6 - Jesus of Nazareth accepted as an historical person 7 - Jesus of Faith – what could have caused 11 men hiding cowardly in a locked room to leave that safety and go forth to preach the Gospel (“Good News”) of Jesus knowing full well that for that very act of preaching they would ultimately be tortured and crucified by the Jews or Romans? 8 - Exploring the basic Christian sources of Gospels and epistles enables us to answer three main questions: a)Who was the Jesus of history? b)Why was this man, Jesus, the crucified one, so quickly recognized by the early Christians as the Christ of Faith, the anointed one? c)How did the church come to the astounding recognition that Jesus was not only the Christ or Messiah awaited by the Jews but was and is the divine Son of God, “one in being with the Father”? 9 - “Testament” means covenant, a solemn promise made between people and sometimes between people and God.
