A - In the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. 1.Where do we find the record of God at work in the world and speaking to mankind?
A –God reveals in His written Word *how He created the universe, *how the world was ruined by sin, and *how God has sent the Savior into the world to save mankind from the consequences of sin. 2.What does God reveal in His written word?
A –The word “Bible” means “Book”. 3. What does the word “Bible” mean?
A –The Bible is like a library in that the Bible is divided into two main sections: *The Old Testament, where God reveals His promise to send the Savior into the world through the nation of Israel; and *The New Testament, where God reveals the Savior, Jesus, and what He has done as the Savior of the world. 4. How is the Bible like a library? Each of these two main sections is divided into three groups: *History (of Israel or of Jesus and the Church); *Literature or Letters (Epistles); and *Prophets or Prophecy (Revelation).
A –God wrote The Old Testament through Moses and the Prophets; and The New Testament through the Apostles and Evangelists. 5. Through whom did God write the Bible?
A –There are 66 books in the Bible: 39 books in the OT and 27 books in the NT. 6. How many books are in the Bible?
A –The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew and Aramaic; and The New Testament was originally written in Greek. 7. In what languages was the Bible originally written?
A –The Bible was written between 1,500 B.C. and 100 A.D. 8. During what period of time was the Bible written?
A –Inspiration. 9.What word is used to describe how the Bible is the Word of God written by men?
A –Scripture tells us in 2 Peter 1:21... “ 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” 10.How does the Bible define “Inspiration”?
A –The purpose of the Bible is to show us the way of salvation by teaching us what Jesus has done as our Savior and Lord. “ 31 These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His Name.” – John 20:31 11.What is the purpose of the Bible?
