THE WAY SEX MEDIA INFLUENCE YOUTH IN TODAYS SOIECTY By: Eric Carrie

Introduction Sexuality is portrayed through many different types of media coverage such as:  Television  Magazines  Advertisements  Movies

Youth Influence The media is a powerful tool that influences young children, teenagers, and the youth Sexuality and sexual exploit actions are expressed freely and openly in the media What types of sexual actions do we as a society allow the media to exploit to the young youth today, and how far do we let it go?

Shows that influence and show Sexual Content MTV’s “The Real World” Young adults come from all around the world to be on this television show where several of them stay in a house and exposed them self's to sexual activities and themes of homosexuality The idea of having sex or being homosexuality are seen, and play as being normal. Shows such as these u influence the decisions many teens, and young youth that watch it.

OTHER TEVEVISION SHOW’S “Sex In The City” Is it ok to show and promote homosexuality to our youth through prime time television?  The sitcoms is promoting women having sex with numerous of different people. The sitcom shows women taking sexual actions that could influence the youth population more importantly the women youth.

Advertisements It is common that youth in today’s society flip through magazines or newspapers and see sexual representation that gets their mind wondering women or men selling underwear, bathing suits, etc  When looking at young girls, sometimes they think that they need to look like a top model in order to fit in with their. This type of mind thought can lead to eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia.

Advertisements Are supermodels the reason why young girls experience eating disorders? No It’s hard to find a cure for this problem because advertisements prosper on sexuality. This is the way that advertisements get paid so it can stop. It is very easy to say that sex sells, because in reality it does, but the question, and the problem is whether it’s healthy for are youth society to feed into?

Music Industry Music videos have been showing sexual images since the later days Most music videos today contain girls half clothed, dirty dancing, and explicit lyrics relating to sex

Magazines Maxim and Stuff  Children look at today's magazines and they contain high amounts of sexual images  Theses types of magazines can be bought by any age group at any time In today’s society the youth are discovering, and experiencing sexual actives at a young age Is this what we want?  Magazines like theses can play a big role on how the youth sees sex. Magazines can influence youth to go out and have sex. The youth can learn about sex just by reading what's in one theses sex magazines

In Conclusion The thoughts of sex in the media is a big influence in today’s youth. In society today children need to be educated about sex. Educated by a responsible source, not by a source who just wants to make money. Some of the shows that are out there offer some helpful information about sex and STD’S, and safe sex, but some shows do the complete opposite. One of the biggest suggestions I would recommend would be to parent that have children to talk to them about sex, and pay attention to what type of TV shows they are watching. The more the parent is involved with their child’s life the easier it is for the child to talk and relate to the parent.
