LITERACY AND DRAMA EXPLORING THE INTERACTION BETWEEN LANGUAGE AND DRAMA

Drama has a language all of its own and draws on various forms of literacy.

Students develop literacy skills in many ways through the range of activities they participate in during a drama class. Here are some of them: Communication of thoughts, feelings and ideas Use of sound, voice,movement and visual art Learning to negotiate through language Using and interpreting the language of others Developing text and dialogue Working with others to explore and create meaning of a text Interpreting and transforming text
