What is a modal verb? Want, must and can are all examples of modal verbs. Modal verbs are usually followed by another verb (in the infinitive). I want to watch TV. She must do her homework. He has to do his homework.
Unfortunately these verbs are irregular in French and we therefore need to learn some more patterns…
