2 Objectives: Learn the use of the negative and the interrogative form in the past tense.

3 To form the negative sentence in the past- you need ‘Ne…pas’ which forms a sandwich around the auxiliary verb and means ‘didn’t’. Elle n’a pas regardé pas la télé. She didn’t watch TV.

4 Ne becomes n’ before a vowel or an h. Je n’ai pas joué au foot I didn’t play football.

5 After pas- du, de la, un, une and des become de...just like in the present tense. Je n’ai pas acheté de pommes- I didn’t buy any apples. Il n’a pas mangé de biscuits- He didn’t eat any biscuits.

8 The negative Change the following sentences into the negative form 1- J’ai travaillé dans un bureau. 2- J’ai mangé au restaurant hier. 3- J’ai aimé le film. 4- Je suis allé chez ma grand-mère.

10 How to form a question in the past tense You use the ‘Tu’ or ‘Vous’ form. You can ask a question: By changing your voice Tu as fait du judo? By changing the order As-tu fait du judo? By adding ‘est-ce que’ in front of the sentence Est-ce que tu as fait du judo?

11 The negative Write the following questions in French 1- Have you eaten an apple? 2- Have you watched TV today? 3- Have you been to the cinema? 4- Have you drank a coke?
