Requirements: Attendance: 80% required You can miss 6 classes this semester, and still pass. Late = tardy… 3 tardies = 1 absent > 20 minutes late  absent  (including time outside of classroom) > 11 classes missed  failing grade  This includes excused absences.  Excused absences for: Sickness/ illness Army duty Death of a family member Job interview Full-time employment Teaching practicum

Due Dates (Also on page 3 of the syllabus) AssignmentDue date: 1 written paragraph Individual (solo) presentation MIDTERM EXAM 1 written essay (5 paragraphs) Group presentation FINAL EXAM

Evaluation* (Grades) Attendance = 10% Participation = 10% Quizzes/Homework = 10% Written Assignments = 15% Presentations = 15% Written Exams = 40% (20% midterm, 20% final) *Note: Per KU policy, only 40% of students may earn an A (90% or above).

Expectation 1: Fun! Let’s enjoy English together!! To participate, remember : you need to STAY AWAKE!!

Expectation 2: Phones No phones in class without permission.  They are for certain situations only: PollEv (Polling/surveys) Dictionary use Emergencies Researching relevant info They are NOT for: Messaging during class time Games or music during class time

Requirements 3: Preparation Participation/Preparation includes: EVERYTHING in English!! A new (unused) textbook Participate fully in class. (No sleeping!!) Complete all assignments on time.
