Elements of Your Grade RUC requires an even distribution of high, middle and low grades. Only 20% of the class can receive 90% or higher. This is a school policy and I can not change it. Participation / Attendance / Homework : 20% Midterm exam: 20% Final exam:60%

Class Requirements Use only English in all class activities Hand in homework on the date it is due 1.Bring notebook (with pen/pencil) to class 2.Bring “Passages 5” textbook each week 3.Bring Oral Log to Class (B5 notebook)

Attendance, Participation, & Exams 1. Attendance for this class is mandatory and will constitute part of students’ grade. Students are required to come to every class ready to actively participate. For each unexcused class a student misses, he or she will lose 3%. More than three total absences will result in an absolute failure of this course.

Attendance, Participation, & Exams The best way to earn participation points is to ask questions, give comments and actively participate in the discussion and debate. In their mid-term and final exams students will be evaluated based on their diction, tone, content, delivery, fluency, and use of speaking techniques.

Buy Your Textbook You should be able to buy your Passages 5 textbook one of two places. 1. Buy it in the Mingde Basement 2. Buy it at the bookstore below the Gym. Last year the owner said that he would give a discount if the whole class bought the book there together.
