This is likely evidence of the magnitude of the Industrial Revolution and World War I. 1750 CE is a useful starting date because it speaks to the importance of the Enlightenment, Industrialization, and American Revolution. Mid-1800s Political Revolution to Cultural Change Imperialism to Colonialism Industrialization in Japan & Russia Coercive labor to free labor 1914 CE is an important date because reflects of the culmination of Europe’s cultural and economic development which yielded the Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism that fueled WWI. It also represents a shift in governments as the Russian Tsar was under fire (1905), Young Turks overthrew the Ottoman Sultan (1908), and the Qing was overthrown by republican reformers.
