 To provide an opportunity for revisiting vocabulary building skills learned  To practise formation of words  To apply various reading skills such as skimming, scanning and identifying main ideas with reference to the given texts  To comprehend various text types with fluency and accuracy Objectives:  There are 2 parts: Part A-Compulsory Questions Part B- Competitive Questions Multiple Choice Tic-tac-toe (i) (ii)

Part A-Compulsory Questions compounding word families (Odd One Out)  Students need to answer within 10 seconds. Take turns to choose and form words with prefixes & suffixes Multiple Choice 2 Questions Tic-tac-toe (i) (ii) Compounding / Odd One Out / Tic-tac-toe 5 marks:correct choice 5 marks:correct pronunciation

 9 affixes with numbers (1-9) are written on a grid.  11 words (a-k) are given to match with those 9 affixes.  The teams have 20 seconds to read those 11 words.  The teams take turns to form new words by choosing & matching words with the chosen affixes.  The 1 st team uses ‘X’ & the 2 nd team uses ‘O’.  You must say the number and read aloud the whole new word, e.g. (1b) sharply  You have to say ‘Pass’ if you cannot form a new word. The chance will be given to the opposing team.  The one who first gets 3 ‘X’ or ‘O’ in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally) will win. 1 st round: Apple Team 2 nd round: Orange Team Part A-Compulsory Questions (ii) Tic-tac-toe 5 marks: correct choice 5 marks:correct pronunciation + 10 bonus marks:The winner

 You have to read 1 fiction & 1 non-fiction text respectively.  You have 4 minutes to read the texts.  The MC will ask 15 questions in 2 minutes. Questions will be shown on the screen.  You have to press the light button before you answer any questions.  You cannot press the light button until the MC has finished reading the question. You cannot answer the question if you break this rule.  Give your answers only after the your school name is called.  You need to give the answer (e.g. a, b, c or d) in 10 seconds. If not, 10 marks will be deducted.  If there is more than 1 answer, team leader should make the final decision.  No corrections from other teams can be made. Light button testing Part B-Competitive Questions (15 Questions) Please do not give hints to the players throughout the game. 10 marks: correct answer -10 marks: wrong answer/give up answering after pressing the light button
