Gender and Changing Cities: Working with the African Centre for Cities at UCT Paula Meth Dept. of Town Planning / Sheffield Institute of International Development

Why UCT & what did I do there? UCT & ACC: expertise in cities & urban change, violence & social processes. Use Citylabs to work with partners, strong networks, & critical academics. My research is all in global South, links are key: Access to data, NGOs, participants, research expertise. Useful for fostering opportunities for impact & joint grant submissions, research dissemination, knowledge. Agreed on paper & bid.

RMP funding: Advice / issues Dept. very pleased: money & promoting international agenda & fostering partnerships. Useful for pushing research into new direction, accessing new collaborations & partners, opportunities for impact & internationalising. Application process was relatively easy but increasingly competitive, be sure to use internal review mechanisms & secure HOD support. Plan RMP early in order to secure discussion with host to ensure it is a jointly agreed proposal.
